Contemporary Art Quarterly – Is it over? Will it continue? How does history take shape? How far is it to go from pride to shame? Who dares to pick up a lizard? How to treat the classics, both living and dead? Or what happens when trying to re-actualize the work of a timeless classic in today’s context, is failure inevitable? Who “owns” the revolution anyway, whether or not it is deemed successful in retrospect? How does an individual’s memory work, can it be trusted? And are objects somehow more “authentic” than their captures?
They say that art is bigger than life, but this is only one of the reasons to get KUNST.EE, a quarterly magazine dedicated to various aspects of contemporary art and visual culture in Estonia. All other reasons are mostly already very specific, inviting the reader to delve into the artwork, follow the artist and critically consider the results.
In this issue, Johannes Saar, Kaire Nurk, Stefan Peetri, Kaisa Eiche, Andri Ksenofontov, Margus Tamm, Ingrid Ruudi, Matti Tuomela and Eik Hermann ask questions about art. Questions, questions, questions…
