Pricing
pricing policy
My prices are based on three things – volume, required work and deadline.
Volume in the academic world is generally understood in terms of 1,000s of words. Journal articles range from 5,000 to 9,000 words depending on the journal. Larger publications, such as collections, will be described in terms of 100,000s of words (e.g. a typical collection will be 250,000 words and include something like 10 or 15 chapters).
The required work is what I need to do to make your work publication-ready. This will have an impact on how many pages I can edit per hour or day. A manuscript that requires a lot of work will take longer and be charged at a higher rate.
The deadline is when you need the print-ready manuscript. If you can give me more time to work on your text, that will be reflected in a lower cost for you, but if you need the final edit urgently, that will cost more.
Therefore, my prices are calculated on a sliding scale that starts at my lowest rate and increases to my highest rate after considering the volume, the required work and the deadline. The table below can be used as a general guide. The final price will be set at my discretion based on your needs and your manuscript. Volume discounts can be applied for larger projects and student discounts or payment terms may also be possible.
The work* | $/1000 words | €/1000 words |
